On Saturday 6th March, Riverside Theatres present Retrospective – Martenitsa Choir’s 30th Anniversary concert. The concert will be performed live from Riverside Theatres and streamed digitally to audiences across the country via Riverside Theatres Digital in celebration of the choir’s incredible 30 years of performances.

The unique choral sound of Sydney’s all female choir Martenitsa will perform Bulgarian traditional choral repertoire along with ground-breaking original repertoire created especially for them by Australian composers including the Aria Award-winning world music ensemble Mara!.

In Retrospective, the choir will trace three decades of thrilling audiences across Australia and the globe with an all-star line-up including the voice of Bulgarian soloist Silvia Entcheva, plus the virtuosic playing of jazz royalty Sandy Evans, Paul Cutlan and Lloyd Swanton and world music icons Llew and Mara Kiek of the Mara! band.

Retrospective will showcase two acclaimed original musical suites – ‘Sezoni’ and ‘Tra Parole e Silenzio’  - composed by and performed with Mara!. These two ground-breaking suites feature texts by Bulgarian/Australian poet Stefan Kozuharov and Italian poet Eduardo Di Giovanni.

Retrospective will be live streamed and performed in front of a live in-theatre audience, offering audiences the opportunity to choose how they see the show.
