August 16: Mara! at the Sydney Folk Festival
Festival director Warren Fahey invited Mara! to perform at this auspicious event - the first folk festival in Sydney in many years, and the first to be titled Sydney Folk Festival.

Mara! opened the festival with a concert in Pitt St Uniting Church on Friday August 16 at 7pm.
On the same bill were the original Sirocco (reformed for the event), The Last Aurochs and Luke Plumb and The Circuit.

Llew also played with Andy Busuttil's 'Skorba' on the Saturday and Mara also sat in with 'Chaika' for one number in their Saturday night concert.

The Festival proved to be a great success thanks to the sterling efforts of Warren, the NSW Folk Federation and over 100 volunteers who ensured that the many concerts, workshops, dances and presentations ran like clockwork.

Let's hope this is just the beginning and that the fledgling SFF will have a long and illustrious future.
